In some cases, some additional work might need to be done to the door jamb to allow the strike plate to be secured on top. With the door open, turn the thumbturn to extend and retract the bolt. Repeat Step 1 on the exterior side with the key. Remember to leave the door open while you test the lock. Now close the door and use the thumbturn to operate the bolt.
